Hamilton-Wenham Generals Youth Cheerleading Competition Participation Policy:

Due to number limits that are enforced by the Cape Ann Cheerleading organization, only 24 girls per squad are able to participate in the end of the season competition event. Our policy is that the first 24 girls to sign up will be the first girls eligible to be in competition. Any girls who signs up after the 24 slots have been filled will be an alternate for the competition in case another cheerleader is unable to compete. During the regular cheerleading season ALL girls will be able to participate on the squad. The girls are part of the team and will be involved in all aspects of the squad during practices , games and other events.  If issues arise during the season with a cheerleader who already has a spot on the competition squad due to signing up early , but has failed to show up at practices and games consistently,  then their place on the competition squad will be in jeopardy. The Cheerleading Director along with the coaches and the Commissioner will discuss whether or not changes would need to be made . The alternates chances to be put on the Competition squad will work the same as the original policy. The first alternate to have signed up after the 24 slots have been filled, will be the first to be moved onto the Competition Squad.

MANDATORY PRACTICES BEGIN TBA

If you can not come to a practice or game because you are sick, you must have your parent or guardian call the head coach as soon as possible.  (Parent/guardians are asked to please send a note to the next practice or game.)

Practices

1.  Get a good nights sleep, feed your body healthy foods during the day & drink plenty of water.

2.  Dress in comfortable clothing that stretches. No jeans or jean shorts.

3.  Leave jewelry at home or you run the risk of it getting lost... all jewelry must come off during cheer practice.

4.  Arrive on time.

5.  Bring your cheer sneakers to practice.
(Please do not wear your cheer sneakers to school or out to play, they need to be clean for games and competition.)

6.  Bring a labeled water bottle to each practice.

7.  Hair should be put up and out of your face as best you can.

8.  Listen and follow directions.

Games

1. Arrive on time.  Any cheerleader who arrives more than 10 minutes late may not be allowed to participate during the half-time routine. (check your schedule and/or locations & directions)

In the event of a game or practice cancellation, the phone tree will be utilized.

**GAME DAY HOT LINE ~ Kerri Wilson's cell is:
508-801-0832 - If you have any questions come Sunday morning, Call to hear a message of field location, special directions or last minute changes.  Leave a message if you need a call back from Kerri Wilson.

(The practice before each game is used to prepare the half-time routine.  If a cheerleader is absent, then changes must be made within the hour practice.  This is not always easy.  If you are a base or a flyer and you do not show up your coach has to come up with a plan.  If your coach does not get a call to say you are just a little lost or stuck in traffic, then the coach must rethink the routine and possibly replace your position.  The team now spends 45 minutes or more practicing the adjusted routine.  If you show up at the last minute we can't just tell the team to go back to plan A. )

2. Wear your uniform to the game.

3. Uniform and sneakers should be clean.

4. Hair must be up and off the face.

5. No jewelry or makeup.

6. Every piece of your uniform, Skirt, Shell, T-neck/Leotard, Brief/Bloomers, Socks, Sneakers and Hair Ribbon should be kept in a gym bag and this bag should go with you to every game.

(You may want to keep the following in your gym bag for inclement weather: navy blue sweatshirt and/or wind  breaker, navy blue sweat pants or warm-up pants, pair of navy blue stretch gloves, clear rain ponch, sunblock,  chapstick and water bottle)

*You can bring money for the concession stand, however, you must purchase your snack either before your pre-game practice, before the game if your coach permits you to leave practice early or after the game.  There is not enough time after the half-time show to visit the concession stand and eat.  Please try to eat before or after the game and bring a small snack.

**Avoid hot chocolate, ketchup, mustard, pizza etc. TAKE OFF OR COVER YOUR UNIFORM WHILE EATING FOODS THAT MAY STAIN!!

7. Exceptionally good behavior is a must!  Wearing a Hamilton-Wenham Generals uniform means that you represent  the town and the team.

*RESPECT EACH AND EVERY MEMBER OF YOUR TEAM AT ALL TIMES (ON THE FIELD, AT PRACTICES, AT SCHOOL & ON THE INTERNET).

All Cheerleading participants of the Hamilton-Wenham Youth Football program and a parent or guardian are asked to sign and date the 2007 Hamilton-Wenham Youth Cheerleading log acknowledging that they have read the above information.  Thank You.
